Role: Oracle Apps DBA

 

Location: Middletown, NJ

Duration: 6 Months Contract.

 

Job Description:

 

Application Database Administrator (ADBA) Responsibilities:

  • Manage all client tools to access the database, including the Oracle client front end and networking tools, and ensure that the appropriate software versions are being utilized.
  • Create scripts to manage and monitor application objects and data.
  • Proactively notify the SDBA when new objects such as tables and indexes will be added to the database, so that the SDBA can create or resize tablespaces as needed.
  • Perform table level and index reorganizations.
  • Provide support for off-hour work such as patches and upgrades applied by the SDBA.
  • Open iTAR's with Oracle World Wide Support for Oracle software not supported by the SDBAs such as Oracle Application Server (OAS), JDBC driver issues, Materialized Views, and Oracle Lite. If the application was purchased from a vendor, it is expected that the SBC application team or the ADBA would consult the vendor first.
  • Provide support for OAS, Oracle Forms and Reports, and JDBC.  The ADBA will be responsible for the installation and the support and can consult with the SDBA if necessary.
  • Manage database replication conflict resolution, requirements, and processing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the SDBA. If the Application Support group does not have an ADBA, the application team must assign a member to fulfill this role.
  • Proactively notify the SDBA when any data loads over and above the normal activity will occur, so that the SDBA can resize tablespaces as needed.
  • Create additional application user schemas by having database connect authority only and grant any application access authority required.
  • Optimize application SQL performance.
  • Perform data modeling.
  • Manage the logical database design.
  • Manage the application's stored procedures, functions, triggers, and any other objects created by the application.
  • Create and manage application objects, including tables, views, and indexes.  This includes keeping database statistics current.
  • Provide storage estimate to the SDBA, System Administrator (SA), and Capacity Planning Group.
  • Create and maintain materialized views.
  • Plan and implement application database object security, including user access and privileges for database objects and application data.
  • Troubleshoot problems and develop resolutions to application scripts and SQL.
  • Ensure recoverability of the database structure (DDL).
  • Provide 24x7 support when performing database recoveries or during critical problem resolutions affecting the availability of the application's database.
