Description:
- SAS Systems Administrator/Application Production Support will use communication and technical skills to support internal customers in our Client's SAS environment. The SAS Systems Administrator will help design, implement, and support a large heterogeneous computing environment. The SAS Systems Administrator will be responsible for helping to maintain Service Level Agreements and improve the performance and reliability of our hosted solutions.
Essential Skills:
• Perform daily administration activities for all SAS servers including storage, applications, backups and account administration
• Utilize trouble ticket system to address and resolve customer concerns
• Interface with SAS groups and departments to enhance the environment or resolve pending issues
• Maintaining knowledge of diverse infrastructure architecture, security policies and standards and consistently applying these practices
• Install, maintain, and update software for operating systems, application and utilities
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, or performance problems
• Develop automation scripts to optimize system administration and business processes
• Interface with customers during problem resolution
• Develop step-by-step documentation for system support tasks.
• Adapt to changing work priorities and a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional attitude.
• Maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with people both internally and externally as it relates to the operations and business.
• Work independently and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Provide 24 X 7 Support
• Takes the lead in establishing SAS-based environments for a broad suite of SAS tools including Visual Analytics, DataFlux, and the 9.3 suite, and others as they become pertinent.
• Works closely with infrastructure staff to ensure the necessary hardware and software requirements for SAS environments are being met; including capacity planning, monitoring, and maintenance.
• SAS 9.x Platform Administration
• Supports Linux-based environments and helps educate other staff in best practices related to supporting Linux
• Uses SAS tools to improve internal operational efficiencies by helping to improve the visibility of information through SAS-based reporting and data presentation.
• Automates data manipulation processes
• Installs, maintains, and updates software for network/client-specific tools, editors, utilities, macros, and subroutines.
• Prepares and conducts system and program tests requiring the interfacing of hardware and software of moderate complexity.
• Troubleshoots hardware, software, or performance problems on the systems network
• Serves as contact for user-reported problems.
• Installs and modifies hardware/software products for systems as required.
• Compiles reports on system performance and/or usage.
• Uses Management Console to add users, register tables, and other basic administrative functions.
• Installs client SAS applications to other users as needed from a software depot.
• Documents changes to system as needed.
• Has understanding of the customer's data environment including data profiling and statistical analyses that inform the development of predictive models.
• Executes complex queries of large SQL/MySQL table(s) efficiently.
• Performs the above tasks using Base SAS, SAS/ACCESS to SQL/MySQL, Enterprise Guide, DataFlux, and/or DI Studio.
• Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Is self-motivated, creative, and inquisitive problem solver with a strong work ethic.
• Is able to generate written documentation of all work performed.
• Has a customer-focused demeanor.
• Has effective oral and written communication skills.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
• Minimum 4+ years of experience as a System Administrator in a heterogeneous, dynamic, customer-focused environment required.
• Minimum 4 years' experience with Linux-based operating systems required.
• The ability to adapt and react to complex issues in a timely manner is a desired attribute.
• Experience with infrastructure architecture including Servers, Network, SAN/Storage to allow for efficient implementation and non-disruptive expansion and upgrades required.
• Experience with Shell scripting (Bash, Perl, etc.) required.
• Demonstrated experience with LDAP integration within UNIX/Linux preferred
• Solid understanding of best practices around information security and data privacy in relation to system access and availability preferred
• Support experience with host-side SAN storage integration and utilization required
• Support experience with virtualization technologies preferred
• Knowledge of change management procedures and version control
• Ability to comprehend the details of complex, multi-tier, system and application software
• Ability to effectively communicate designs and decisions to peers, customers and management
• Superior problem-solving skills
Prefered Skills:
• Experience implementing and using SAS Enterprise software
• Experience programming in SAS DataStep and Macro;
• Significant experience with Linux administration
• Experience using SAS application tools (e.g., 9.3 suite, reporting, etc.).
• Java development experience
• Experience in capacity planning and performance analysis.
• Experience with Unix scripting in Perl or Shell
• Expertise in large data warehouse systems i.e. Teradata
