Position: Data Modelling Architect

Location: Oakbrook, IL

Duration: 6 Months

 

Job Description:

 

Data modeling experience – 10 years.

Possess the ability to understand the RFM 2 Application coupled with its complex and in depth data model analysis, database modeling and implementation capabilities.

RFM 2 Database Improvement - Redesign the database schema to reduce complexity of the model such that new enhancements will not negatively impact the performance of the RFM 2 application.

RFM 2 has a schema of over 800 tables that implements complex data relationships through highly normalized data entities and provides many data dimensions such as market hierarchies, menu item sets and component propagation, pricing hierarchies, effective dates, data inheritance, etc.

 

•             Analyze and understand the current RFM 2 Data Model

•             Optimize the current data model to simplify the complex concepts of set layering and future effective dates

•             Optimize SQL and stored procedure performance

•             Design and implement a proof of concept to showcase the above simplified data model

•             Work with Supplier to determine approach and timing

•             Lead development team to implement the recommended changes

•             Provide guidance on all database technical issues

 

Required Skills:

 

•             Experience with highly complex and significant data transactional volumes (millions) – Over 7 years of experience

•             Ability to simplify complex schemas

•             Ability to quickly understand the depth of application requirements and provide database solutions

•             Transactional data extraction scripting capabilities In Oracle 11G

•             Understanding complex data dimensions and relationships.

•             Ability to present multiple solution options for market promotion

•             Ability to quickly develop a fully functional proof-of-concept

•             Ability to quickly obtain a clear understanding of how the RFM 2 application process information

•             Ability to quickly learn a business domain (ideally development experience in the retail domain) Oracle 11G enterprise class data model implementation capabilities
