Position: System Administrator

Location: Herndon, VA

Duration: 6 Months+

 

Responsibilities:

 

         Design, plan and implement high availability servers

         Design and implement disaster recovery and security solution

         Plan and communicate upgrades, migrations and deployments.

         Assist with installation of new hardware, operating systems, service packs, and hot fixes

         Track issues to resolution and updating the internal knowledgebase.

         Act as an IT project leader/project manager for projects of a large scope and impact. 

         Analyze requests for new technical functionality and recommend solutions.

         Actively participate in analyzing and evaluating emerging software and hardware technologies/standards

         Maintain problem status for each problem ticket assigned according to current standards and specifications and monitor support performance goals

         Planning, budgeting & procurement of IT infrastructure & Vendor coordination.

         Capacity planning for the existing messaging environment

         Coordination and execution of projects from various geographical locations.

         Indepth knowledge in administering servers running on Wintel environment

         Sound knowledge in managing Active Directory.

         Troubleshooting network issues

         Perform Gap analysis and recommend/implement solutions.

         Ensures high customer satisfaction during the support process

         May assist with training of user employees on a one-to-one basis.

         Monitor and report the server health periodically.

 

Education:

         Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associates or Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science / Information Systems / Mathematics or equivalent work experience.

         A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft certification(s) are highly desired or equivalent experience.

         Other industry certifications (RHCE,etc) a bonus.

 

Qualifications:

 

         8 to 10 years experience providing Tier 2 and 3 support for Exchange Servers, Active Directory domains, and Windows 2003/2008 servers in a large-scale production environment.

         Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards, including LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Citrix, Active Directory, and Windows Server 2003/2008, Altiris, Backup Exec, etc.

         Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.

         Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and written in a professional manner, and ability to use a ticketing system to track open support issues.

         Highly self motivated and directed.

         Keen attention to detail.

         Strong customer service orientation.

         Experience working in a dynamic team-oriented, collaborative environment.

         Strong desire to learn and grow technically and professionally.
