Location: Cary, NC

Position Available

 

We're looking for Data Analyst/Data Modeler candidates who can be responsible for creating flexible and scalable logical and physical database models, as well as performing data analysis in support of financial data applications.  In this role you will work with Product Managers, Business and Functional Analysts, Business Users, and our Development team to design the optimal solutions for our business. 

We look for clear & concise communicators who have a focus on getting things right for the customer. We like to work in a collaborative environment so you must have an open and analytical mind.

This role will focus on regulatory reporting and analytics systems which encompass data collection, normalization and rationalization, data warehousing, data marts, reporting, and STP processing to satisfying real-time reporting and alerting needs.  Immediate work will be focused on Dodd-Frank regulations.  Solution technologies will include PL/SQL, Oracle, and Informatica.

 

Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into a logical and/or physical data model.
  • Identify complex database development tasks such as common utilities, advanced search.
  • Work successfully in a dynamic environment, working on multiple efforts simultaneously.
  • Collaborate across teams and across geographic regions
  • Work as in-house database expert in the area of database design /tuning.
  • Identify database bottlenecks and tune/rewrite SQL queries that are run by the applications.
  • Maintain and publish data dictionaries for data models.
  • Forecast database scaling/capacity requirements
  • Follow client standards for database related design and development; Set new standards where none exist.
  • Coordinate with the production DBA team to ensure that development is in line with the Architecture/Engineering standards.
  • Validate that database schema implementation is in line with agreed architecture.
  • Design XML/XSD schemas for data distribution.
  • Work with production DBAs and SAs for sizing of the database.

Skills

You may not have demonstrable experience in all the technologies below but we'll be expecting a good cross section of them:

  • Data Modeling tools such as ERWIN
  • SQL, PL/SQL, Warehouse Builder
  • RDBMS: Oracle (preferred), Sybase, SQL Server
  • ETL Tools such as Informatica
  • JDBC, XML Spy

 Although every candidate should have good database skills, we're looking for specific experience regarding:

  • Design and development of a number of complex systems with rigorous data requirements
  • Expert-level database design and performance oriented data processing and retrieval strategies
  • Data warehousing  and business intelligence experience
  • Logical and physical data modeling in the financial industry
  • Experience with capital markets compliance systems a plus
  • Experience with fPML a plus
