Position                       : Senior Linux Systems Engineer

Location                      : Phoenix, AZ

Duration                       : 6 Months

Total Positions             : 4

NOTE:  AWS (Amazon Web Services) Experience is MUST

General:

In this position, the ideal candidate will help us modernize our infrastructure and deployment stack.  The qualified candidate will programmatically manage both traditional and Cloud infrastructure across multiple hosting providers. Work with engineering team running at a rapid, changing pace solving problems; help platformize our application stacks to enable more rapid build out of both production and development systems. Assist with package in-house as well as third party code so it can be rapidly and repeatably deployed across multiple providers. Guide developers on how to best develop and layout their applications to ensure stability and portability.  Build or improve monitoring frameworks. Build or extend tools to enable self-service at all levels of the operations stack so it's trivial and safe for our users to deploy new applications with a minimum of handholding. Eagerly share knowledge with teammates as well as the larger organizational community.

 

This candidate will support:

·         Architect, implement, and support fault tolerant systems for the Amazon infrastructure including clusters, OS, and application dependent instances

·         Set up and scaling of a large number of servers, including systems automation and application deployment automation

·         Work with internal and external staff on developing architecture and evaluating new technologies

·         Evaluate and provide recommendations and guidance on standardization of system architecture and configuration

·         Identify risks and update operational support guidelines

·         Mentor junior systems administrators

Skills & Experience:

·         Experience administering Amazon Cloud Infrastructure based technologies

·         Strong knowledge and experience with scripting and system languages

·         High availability system setup and architecture

·         Red Hat Certification is desired but not a show stopper

·         Five or more years Red Hat or Red Hat based distribution experience

·         RHEL 5.x/6.x experience

·         Experience in solutions design and recommendation (supported by description in resume)

·         Candidates must have performance tuning experience

·         Interact closely with developers and to improve Linux architecture and operations

·         Work with other IT engineers to research and implement new technologies

·         Troubleshoot and resolve issues with hardware, applications, and network infrastructure

·         Analyze architecture, infrastructure design and application flow to optimize performance and scalability

·         Maximize platform availability

·         Capacity planning through evaluation of hardware and software

·         Create and maintain system documentation

·         Document current and future configuration processes and efforts

·         24x7 on-call support

 

Familiarity in any of the following areas would be a plus:

·         Experience with Distributed Processing

·         Cloud Infrastructure knowledge

·         Java, Oracle RDBMS, MySQL

·         Networking experience

·         Multi-site and/or international systems administration

·         SAN or NAS experience

·         Puppet
